you've undoubtedly been awaiting the next time I was going to post something -- well the wait is over my friend. I've decided to limit the sugar in my diet as drastically as possible -- so raisin bran and bran flakes are out. if you check the ingredients, after 'bran' usually comes like three kinds of sugar. so I've switched, indefinitely, to some off-brand shredded mini wheats with no sugar added. just wheat and preservatives. I've decided to enhance the flavor, if needs be, with fruit of some kind. we'll have to see how this turns out. Considering the speed with which I generally devour cold cereal I probably won't even notice.

I think my fridge did that thing again where it makes my milk go bad. Two days ago i thought my shredded wheat/bran flake medley tasted a little funky and lo and behold it's true -- I had accidentally turned it down a little bit too much after it froze my baby carrots to a solid block of orange. I ate them anyway, in case you're wondering, but the milk I have delegated to the back of the fridge because I'm too heartsick to actually throw it out. Maybe I'll drink it later when I get kind of desperate. How that desperation will come about is a mystery but it never hurts to be prepared. On that note I'm going to spend some quality time hanging out with my main squeeze. Did I mention that I gave my heart to cold cereal?

two days ago i ate three bowls of cold ceral. one was raisin bran and the other two were honey bunches of oats. a surge of energy came to my body from the concerntrated dose of goodness but rather than channeling it to lift a house or stop traffic with an uprooted tree, I played a wii. for many hours. by myself. in pajamas. you may think that throwing my time into a vortex of nintendo-powered simulation would result in the same kind of late afternoon grogginess that accompanies over-napping -- but it didn't. mario kart left me ruddy cheeked and light on my feet. who would have thought that something so mindless would actually rival my dedication to the invigorating powers of cold cereal. i made sure to pay my respects to the Post cereal box on the way out of the house lest the wii rob me of my first love.

After some measure of drought I furnished myself with a tupperware full of frosted mini wheats the other day. The milk tasted a little fishy, which was perplexing considering I had just purchased it from Kroger (curse its name) the night before. I finished the cereal anyway. But couldn't get myself to slurp the milk. I had to pour it down the drain -- which proved to be traumatic because only a few days before I had had to do away with almost a half-gallon of milk for the same reason. I was preparing myself for a visit to the "customer service" counter at Kroger (curse its name) when I tasted my recently mixed orange juice. Alas, it was bad as well. The wheels began turning very slowly in my mind. Then the creaminess of my otherwise firm peanut butter led me to evaluate the temperature setting of my refrigerator. It was low. I fixed it. Let me know if you have any problems with your refrigerator. I'll lend you my services.
I ate some mini wheats this morning, fishing them from from a pool of clean, white skim milk. They tasted a lot like the box they came in. But I loved them, anyway.

I bought ice cream, incidentally, the other day and have been subsisting off the cookie creaminess up until yesterday when I returned to Kroger (curse its name) to replenish my milk supplies. The milk wasn't on sale and was kind of expensive. Considering the number of cows I see around here and our relative proximity to Wisconsin I feel a little cheated that milk prices are so high. I guess it's just another symptom of a sick market. Godspeed the US Department of Treasury with its manufactured millions -- my cold cereal habit is burning through my bank account. Fortunately I still have some ice cream left.

I thought about eating some more shredded mini wheats for dinner like I did for breakfast but instead I had ham and eggs. Something about it being cold makes me want meat, or any other animal bi-product. I bought the ham thinking to put it on sandwiches. It's the thick, oval kind with "water added." But when I looked at it this morning it was covered in cooking directions and I thought maybe it knew something I didn't so I decided not to eat it raw. But then tonight I was hungry enough I went ahead and bit into it and it was fine. What a relief.
